Attention all racing enthusiasts! Get ready for an adrenaline-fueled weekend of motorcycle racing at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit. The 2019 World Superbike Championship kicks off with Round 1, promising an exciting display of racing skills and fierce competition.
New Race Format for the 2019 Season
For this season, a new race format has been introduced to add even more thrill and suspense to the races. Just like in 2018, there will be two races held on Saturday and Sunday. However, a third race, known as the Superpole Race, will be held on the final morning of the weekend, just before the second full-distance race.
The starting grid for Race 1 and the Superpole Race will be determined by a single 25-minute Superpole timed session. The grid for Race 2 will feature the top 9 riders from the Superpole Race, followed by the remaining riders sorted according to their qualifying times.
An Exciting Calendar for 2019
The provisional 2019 World Superbike Championship calendar has been announced, featuring 13 events that will take place in different countries around the world. The calendar offers racing enthusiasts the opportunity to witness thrilling races in iconic circuits. One notable change from the 2018 season is the replacement of the Czech round at Brno with a round at Jerez, scheduled for June. Additionally, the round at Donington Park has been moved from May to July, allowing the Misano round to be held in June.
