The 2021 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters is the thirty-fifth season of premier German touring car championship and also twenty-second season under the moniker of Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters since the series’ resumption in 2000.
In April 2020, Audi Sport announced that they would not be continuing their DTM Class One programme beyond the end of the 2020 season. BMW followed and also exited the Class One series after 2020 season.
The series changed the regulation for the 2021 season from Class One to GT3 with support from manufacturers Audi and BMW.
As already started with the Aston Martin team in 2019 and some Audi and BMW teams in 2020, the series now is a platform for professional motorsport teams and (mostly factory) drivers with various levels of manufacturer support.
