The Excitement Continues
The 2018 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters is back with its nineteenth season. As the series’ resumption in 2000, DTM has become one of the most prestigious and thrilling racing events in the world. This season will bring the final races for the current 4.0 litre V8 normally-aspirated engine package that debuted in the reborn season. The upcoming season promises to be even more exhilarating, with the introduction of a brand new engine package as part of the Class One prospect with Japanese Super GT GT500 cars.
This will also mark the final season for Mercedes AMG in DTM, as they switch their focus to FIA Formula E starting from the 2019-20 season. After 19 years of participation, Mercedes AMG will bid farewell to DTM, leaving a lasting legacy behind.
René Rast – The Reigning Champion
René Rast, the talented driver from Audi, will be the reigning drivers’ champion as the 2018 season kicks off. After securing the title at the second Hockenheimring round of the 2017 championship, Rast will be looking to defend his crown. The competition will be fierce as other top drivers strive to dethrone him and claim the championship for themselves.
Audi will also start the season as the defending Constructors’ Champion, having secured their second consecutive DTM constructor title at the same venue. With intense rivalries and high-speed action, the battle for the championship promises to be a spectacle you don’t want to miss.
